When Naturkost Übelhör began to trade in Bolivian quinoa in 1996, it soon became clear that the ‘corn of the Incas’ would become an integral part of the portfolio in next to no time. We found two experienced partners in Peru, Brucce Echenique and Kleydi Palza, who had founded the company DeGuste in 2001 and had launched their quinoa project with initially 30 farming families and a great deal of enthusiasm. Twenty years down the line, we offer more than 1,500 farmers and their families a reliable income with Naturkost Peru. Part of the Naturkost Group, Naturkost Peru is now the responsible owner of 200 ha of acreage and two factories – Planta Juliaca near Puno and Planta Chilca near Lima. Controls throughout the process chain, from cultivation, harvesting, cleaning and packaging through to the supply chain end points, enable us to guarantee consistently high quality.
